What's on the ballot

- Massachusetts Question 9: a referendum on the state's 2024 gun law. Yes keeps the law; No repeals it.
- Tennessee Amendment 1: Yes would let courts deny bail in more kinds of cases.
- Massachusetts Question 8: Yes would end recreational marijuana sales while still allowing limited possession.
Questions and answers
What does a Yes or No vote mean?
A Yes vote approves the change the measure describes; a No vote keeps current law, unless the measure says otherwise (in a referendum on a law already passed, for example, Yes keeps the law and No repeals it).
How many votes does a measure need to pass?
A simple majority in most states. Some require more to change the constitution: Florida needs 60%, and in some states an amendment must pass in two separate elections.
When will results be known?
Measures are counted with the rest of the ballot. Lopsided ones are called on election night; close ones can take days. This page updates on its own as results come in.
Where can I read the exact ballot wording?
