About us

About us

Polling Desk is an independent, nonpartisan home for U.S. election data — polls, betting-market odds and live results in one place, explained in plain language.

Our mission

Elections are noisy. A single poll can swing the headlines, betting odds move by the minute, and results trickle in for days. We put every source side by side, show where the numbers come from and how we combine them, and let you judge for yourself.

What you'll find here

  • Polls and averages. Every published poll on presidential approval, the generic congressional ballot and Senate, House and governor races, with simple, transparent averages. Browse polls.
  • Races and odds. For each contest, prediction-market odds from Kalshi and Polymarket next to the polling average. See the races.
  • Live election results. On election night our results map updates every minute as votes are counted.
  • Guides. How to read a poll, how odds differ from polls, and what "called" really means.
  • Open data. Download any view as CSV, free.

Our principles

  • Nonpartisan. We don't endorse, favor or work for any party, candidate, campaign or pollster.
  • Transparent. Our methodology is simple enough to check by hand, and every individual poll stays visible.
  • Sourced. Every number links back to where it came from.
  • Accessible. Every chart and map has a data table, and the site works with keyboards and screen readers, in English and Spanish. See our accessibility statement.
  • Not a betting site. We show market prices as information only — we don't take bets or link to betting accounts.

Where our data comes from

Poll data comes from the VoteHub Polling API and from The New York Times via PollResults.org, both under CC BY 4.0. Prediction-market odds come from the public data of Kalshi and Polymarket, and election results from civicAPI. Everything refreshes automatically. Charts are drawn with Chart.js; maps use public-domain U.S. Census boundaries.

How we're funded

The site is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no say over what we publish, and ads are always labeled.
