2027 Governor Races: Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi
Reviewed:
After the 2026 midterms, the next governors' races come in 2027, in three states that hold their elections in odd-numbered years.
The three races
- Kentucky. Gov. Andy Beshear (Democrat) can't run again because of term limits, so the seat is open. Election: Tuesday, November 2, 2027.
- Mississippi. Gov. Tate Reeves (Republican) is also term-limited: another open seat. Election: Tuesday, November 2, 2027.
- Louisiana. Gov. Jeff Landry (Republican) can run for a second term. Louisiana votes in the fall, with a first round usually in October and a second round if no one wins a majority.
Two of the three governors are Republicans and one is a Democrat. Kentucky is the one to watch: a Democrat has won the governorship there in a state that votes heavily Republican for president.
We'll add polls, betting odds and live results for these races here as they come in. Meanwhile, see how the 2026 governor races turned out.
